Son of a Brick
Let me tell you a story
Full of anguish and woe
Of a hurt we’ve all suffered
Of a pain we all know
Yeah you cannot escape it
Although many have tried
Countless times it has caught me
Countless tears have I cried
And you don’t see it coming
You can’t tell when it’s near
Oh we live in the tension
Oh we live in the fear
Well it happened to me
Only two days ago
Though it still hurts to dwell on it
It’s important you know
Woke up in the dead of night
Desperately needing a wee
My room as black as death
My eyes they could not see
So I crawled out of bed
Put my feet on the floor
And a stabbing pain shot through me
Like I’ve never felt before
I stepped on a Lego brick
My foot was in agony
There are no words, well
None that I could say on children’s TV
Plastic teeth bit into me
I tumbled to the ground
And suddenly I realised
It’s the missing piece I’ve found
Do they hibernate in daytime?
Come creeping out at night?
Lay in wait for naked flesh
Out of nothing more than spite?
(He stepped on a Lego brick, he stepped on a Lego brick)
(He stepped on a Lego brick, he stepped on a Lego brick)
(He stepped on a Lego brick, he stepped on a Lego brick)
If this tale has a moral,
It can only be this
If you’re walking at night-time
Ignorance is not bliss
So don’t roam in the dark
Don’t walk round at night
Don’t take another step
Without turning on a light
If you watch out for Lego bricks
There’s no need to be scared
I hope that for your sake
You’ll fare better than I fared…
